June OD Cafe – Organisation of the Future for the Future
Organisational design (or architecture) pertains to the ‘delivery logic’ set up by an organisation to establish, unlock, and deliver ongoing value for its stakeholders. It is widely recognised that the design of the organisation has a profound effect, not only on its ability to execute its strategy successfully, but also its performance and ultimately its sustainable competitive advantage.
The criticality of organisational design has become an even greater imperative in the emerging new world of hyper-fluidity and hyper-turbulence. Globally, leadership is forced to reconsider the design of their organisations from first principles, given the emerging, new order and competitive demands. In many instances, the current designs of organisations have reached their ‘sell by date’.
The purpose of the café is to explore the possible design of future-fit organisations, enabling leadership to use their organisational design as a competitive edge. Four topics will be covered: the forces of change driving the emerging, new order; possible design criteria for the organisation of the future; exploring possible future-fit organisational forms; and stress testing the future-fitness of one’s current organisational design.
Presenter: Prof Theo H Veldsman
